Breaking New Ground at IPPE 2026

"This is the future of poultry health and what the next 20 years will be focused on.”

Last week, almost the full Barnwell team came together in Atlanta for this year’s International Production and Processing Expo, the largest conference for poultry producers, technology developers, researchers, and animal health companies in the world. It was all hands on deck, and everyone was excited to talk to people about what we are building at Barnwell Bio!

Compared to our first IPPE in 2025, Barnwell Bio brought over twice as many team members to IPPE 2026 - our founding team plus five new members of our flock who have over the past year! Between our new customer growth and strong promoter network of partners, we went from just a handful of chats all week to dozens of conversations each day. Ultimately, the week did not disappoint and there was an incredible amount of excitement in the power of better data and biosurveillance for farmers, additive producers, and vaccine developers alike. Here is what folks were saying about Barnwell on the ground in Atlanta…

We want to know what treatments are actually effective.” - Mid-Atlantic Organic Broiler  Producer

There are hundreds to thousands of new probiotics, feed additives, litter amendments, and technology products in the market today. We spoke to many of these exciting companies throughout the week at IPPE. Yet every producer is asking the same set of questions - What does it do? How do I know it works? Is it actually effective for my barn?

This is where Barnwell Bio steps in! Our full-scope microbiome monitoring allows us to evaluate the real impact of a new product on your specific barn - both the expected benefits and any unexpected effects. If you are a producer testing a new intervention, Barnwell can help you assess if the treatment is really working to improve your flock’s health. If you are a vaccine or probiotic developer, we can be a third-party for validation of product impact for better go-to-market. We bring high-quality, barn-specific data to help you make the best health and treatment decisions.

“Barnwell is building the weather forecasting system for animal health.” - Poultry Engineering Solutions Company

To overextend the analogy - our goal at Barnwell Bio is to detect when a storm is brewing in your flock before you do. We can catch signs of a disease outbreak prior to it happening. Even before evaluating if a treatment truly works, proactive monitoring allows producers to stay on top of pathogen loads in each of their barns. If something looks out-of-balance - either too much bad bacteria or not enough beneficial microbes - we can partner with you on next steps before it becomes a bigger issue. We are building an early disease detection and monitoring platform to help you stay ahead of a crisis and protect your business.

Beyond looking at specific barns, we are gathering enough data to eventually identify regional trends and potential pathogen hot-spots. We want to be your trusted pathogen monitoring partner and platform to see what you need to be keeping an eye out for in your area. With Barnwell Bio, it looks like nothing but clear skies ahead!

"This is the future of poultry health and what the next 20 years will be focused on.” - Poultry Veterinarian Expert

We heard some version of this consistently when we spoke with producers and poultry health experts in the industry. Biosurveillance is shifting more and more from reactive diagnostic testing to proactive microbiome monitoring across the farm. There are always going to be new disease challenges that pop-up, and producers want to stay ahead of them as much as possible. And while producers are getting more interested in this technology, allied industry members like poultry veterinarians and treatment providers will need to get more knowledgeable on how to interpret and use this information to inform better health interventions.

At Barnwell Bio, we are building the world’s largest poultry health metagenomic dataset that will not only support better treatments now, but can provide critical information to guide and predict new treatment and vaccine discovery in the future. Our goal and hope for the future is that the next flock saving treatment is developed leveraging Barnwell’s metagenomic data and bioinformatics capabilities!

That is a wrap on IPPE 2026 for us! Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth for the incredible set of conversations with producers, technology developers, and animal health providers. We are so excited to keep these conversations going and partner with many of you in the near future…and see you soon at PEAK 2026 in Minnesota and eventually IPPE 2027 with even more exciting updates!
